Institute
Since October of 2004, the Institute for Geoinformatics and Remote Sensing (IGF) is part of department 6 (mathematics/informatics) at the University of Osnabruck. The Institute developed from the former Research Center for Geoinformatics and Remote Sensing (FZG) at the University of Vechta.
The Institute mainly focuses on the following topics:
- Spatial analyses by means of methods and tools from Geoinformatics and Remote Sensing
- Refining functionalities of geographic information systems (Mobile Mapping, extensions)
- Analysis of satellite and aerial images, automated methods for evaluating remote sensing data
- Computer mapping, multimedia presentation, regional planning and management with the help of GIS
- Development of data fusion methods
- Model development for the interpretation of environmental data involving different types of media
- training and continuing education (GIS courses, UNIGIS, ZGIS, seminars and workshops)
- 3D/4D geographic information systems
